Hey there! I'm Randall Eames, a VOYEUR virgin! This has been, and I'm sure will continue to be, one of the most unique experiences of my life. SATURDAY'S VOYEUR is a very special kind of animal when it comes to theatre. It's like a unicorn; very much an underdog, but very proud of what it represents, and also a little gay, which is perfect! Some might say that creating an entirely new musical in just six weeks is impossible, and I normally would be one to agree with them. This is different though. The cast and production team of SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2011 is amongst the best group of theatre people, EVER! I am constantly inspired and pushed by those working along side of me. I'll admit it is very intimidating to be working with so many seasoned actors and VOYEUR "legends", and that sometimes I leave rehearsal wondering what exactly I've gotten myself into. At the end of the week though, it all is worth the hours we've all put in.
Had I written this blog when I was supposed to, which was two weeks ago, I would not be able to write about the incredible experience I had yesterday. As you probably know, Salt Lake Acting Company and SATURDAY'S VOYEUR walks in the Gay Pride Parade in association with the Utah Pride Festival. Yesterday morning I had the incredible opportunity to march and be loud and proud with my fellow cast mates. I was filled with joy and may have shed a couple of tears to know that my fellow cast mates have as much love for each other and equality as they do for theatre.
As for rehearsals, we just finished Act 2 and should getting a third act this week. So, get ready for some good laughs!
Overwhelmed, exhausted, inspired and ecstatic; all of these words express how I feel. I couldn't be more proud and excited about the work that my fellow cast mates and I are doing.
Peace and love ya'll.
