Introducing the Company of SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2011

VY11_co_May31_1CYNTHIA FLEMING.  My relationship with VOYEUR?  I can never really remember which year it is, but VOYEUR really was the beginning of my transition from being a performer to working behind the scenes.  Working with Al, Nancy, and Keven all these years in such a gorgeous collaborative way is now my philosophy for life.  It’s how I clean my house.  Everything.  (Laughter) It’s the structure of how we create this work.  I’m very excited to get started.

NANCY BORGENICHT.  It’s not how you have sex, is it?

CYNTHIA FLEMING. (Laughing) It certainly would improve it.  (uproarious laughter)

KEVEN MYHRE. Keven Myhre, Executive Producer, Resident Set Designer.  VOYEUR is definitely part of my genetic makeup at this point in my life. And I have to thank Barney Clark and Dr. Jarvik for starting me down this road; that was the first VOYEUR I worked on, so I have to thank them and Allen and Nancy for bringing me to this date.  I have been with [VOYEUR] since before most of you were born.

JANICE JENSON.  I’m Janice Jenson, Stage Manager, and this is my first VOYEUR, so I’m very excited.  (Cheers and riotous applause from Co.)

CYNTHIA FLEMING.  Had you ever seen it?

JANICE JENSON.  I saw VOYEUR twice last year.

PENNY PENDLETON.  My name is Penny Pendleton, and I’m the Assistant Stage Manager, and this will be popping my VOYEUR cherry.  (wolf whistles and raucous cheers)

ANDRA HARBOLD.  I’m Andra Harbold, and I’m part of the Communications Team.  This is my sixth VOYEUR.  I particularly loved last summer because I read all the articles that Al and Nancy had been stewing over, and I felt more connection to VOYEUR than I ever had before. The awareness of the state of our state intensifies.  I’m so excited for this company and this year.

JIM CRAIG.  Can you tell me your title again?  Community Patience? (Laughter)

ANDRA HARBOLD.  No, Jim, Communications.

CYNTHIA FLEMING.  She’s really our Artistic & Literary Associate.  She’s a research junkie.

ANDRA HARBOLD. I am.  And I have profound patience. (Laughter)

CASSANDRA STOKES-WYLIE.  I’m Cassandra Stokes-Wylie, and I also work on the Community Patience team.  This is my second year with VOYEUR.  I’ve seen it several times over the past ten years.  I’m super-excited about this summer.  Last year was a lot of fun.  Yeah.  It’s going to be great.  And I look great! (Laughter)

JACOB JOHNSON.  I’m Jacob Johnson, and this is my sixth VOYEUR – fifth on stage, and VY11_co_May31_2I’m really pleased and blessed to be here – and I’m just glad to have a job! (Laughter)

SHANNON MUSGRAVE.  I’m Shannon Musgrave, and this is my third VOYEUR, and during the day I also work here – as Cynthia’s salsa spill cleanup – (Laughter)

CYNTHIA FLEMING.  It’s an important job –

SHANNON MUSGRAVE.  – and it takes a lot of my time – (laughter)  I usually sound a lot more lovely than this, but I’m stuffed up.  So stop touching me. (laughter)

CYNTHIA FLEMING.  And you’re Dance Captain!

SHANNON MUSGRAVE.  Yes.  I am Captain of the Dance. (Makes whip sound)

JOHN ROWLAND. I’m John Rowland, and I’m a VOYEUR Virgin as well.  (the room goes wild)  I’ve seen VOYEUR once before – it was actually the year that Steven, Kelsie, and Dustin Bolt were in it –

SHANNON MUSGRAVE.  And I was in it!

JOHN ROWLAND.  I’ve loved every show that I’ve seen here, and I’m really excited to be a part of this one.

RANDALL EAMES.   I’m Randall Eames.  Also a VOYEUR Virgin.  (Much applause)  I’ve seen the show, and I’m really excited to be here with all of you.  YAAAY. (Laughter.  Clapping.)

KELSIE JEPSEN.  I’m Kelsie Jepsen.  Kelsie Fucking Jepsen. (Laughter)  That’s my stage name.  This is my second VOYEUR, and I’m so happy to be here because I moved to New York, but I wrote them an email and said, “Please take me back!” and they said, “Yes.”  So here I am!

CYNTHIA FLEMING.  That wasn’t public knowledge. (Laughter)

KELSIE JEPSEN.  Oh!  I mean – I officially – um – I did a monologue, and then I sent it through Skype, and then I wrote a scene, which we will be performing in this year’s VOYEUR. (laughter)

AUSTIN ARCHER.  I’m Austin Archer, and I worked the last couple of VOYEURs [as House Manager].  I was sort of in the last one [Austin performed in last summer's extension of SATURDAY'S VOYEUR 2010: THE YEAR THAT WAS].

JEANETTE PUHICH.  No, you were in the last one.

AUSTIN ARCHER.  This is my first official one as a Cast member.  I’m just really excited to not taking the trash out this year. (Laughter)  I got garbage juice on me like every night.

JOSHUA KOERPEL. I’m Josh Koerpel, and I’m the Master Carpenter here at SLAC and also the Technical Director.  This will be my sixth year of VOYEUR.  (whoo-hoos around the room)

VY11_co_May31_3JAMES CRAIG.  I’m Jim Craig, and I’m the Lighting Designer.   My first VOYEUR was in ’97 or ’98, and then I took a break from VOYEUR for a while in the middle, and this is my third in a row back.  So, I’m glad to be back.  (Cheers)

ALEXIS BAIGUE.  I’m Alexis Baigue.  (Laughter)  On July 20th, 1978, the very first VOYEUR premiered at my church, the First Unitarian Church, and I celebrated my third birthday.

AL NEVINS.  Do you have an address for that?

ALEXIS BAIGUE.  6th South and 13th East.  The very first VOYEUR I saw – back in ’95 – shocked, titillated, and horrified me.  I did the show the very next year, and this is my 11th(Cheers.)

AL NEVINS.  Eleven years… I’m Allen Nevins. (imitating Alexis’ introduction) I’m Alexis Baigue.  I’m Alexis Baigue’s father.  (Laughing.  Laughter.) I started working with Nancy in ’89 on VOYEUR, and we’ve been doing it ever since…

ALEXIS BAIGUE.  What about writing? (laughter)

AL NEVINS.  Writing, too.

UNA PETT.  I’m Una Pett, and I’m the Grants Coordinator here.  This will be my third year here during VOYEUR, although I’ve seen it a bunch before that.  This is Luca.  (Our smallest Company member, born March 2011)  He’s a virgin. (Laughter)

AL NEVINS.  And the Bullshit Barometer.  If the baby cries, you’re lying. (Laughter)

JOSH MARTIN.  I’m Josh Martin, and I’m the Sound Designer and Master Electrician.  This will be VOYEUR Number 5 for me.

HOLLY FOWERS.  I’m Holly Fowers, and this is my first VOYEUR!  (Yelling and cheers)  So please be gentle.   But not too gentle.  (Laughter) And I’m really excited to be here.  I’ve seen several VOYEURs over the years, and this is my first on stage.

KENT HARRISON HAYES.  I am Kent Hayes.  Kent Harrison Hayes.  This is my fifth VOYEUR, but the first one I did was when Alexis was five.

NANCY BORGENICHT. That’s so weird…

KENT HARRISON HAYES.  I know.  This summer though, I’m having surgery. (Laughter)  So anyway...  I can’t tell you how excited I am to be here.  This is a great group of people, most of whom I’ve worked with before – (to Holly, John and Randall) it’s wonderful to have you three here.  (to Alexis) It was lovely to meet you when you were five, and you haven’t changed a bit.

JEANETTE PUHICH.  (whispering huskily into the recorder)  Is this thing on?  I am Jeanette Puhich.  This is my first VOYEUR. (Laughter and applause.)  Is the baby crying?

VY11_Co4AL NEVINS.  It must have been a full moon that made you a virgin.

JEANETTE PUHICH.  OH…!  I honestly can’t remember which one this is.  Ten or eleven or twelve … I don’t know.  I did one of those weeks like Austin did several years ago, so I count that.  Happy to be here.

VICTORIA ELENA NONES.  Hello, I’m Victoria Elena Nones, and I’m the Resident Latina here.  I was hired for diversity reasons – clearly – and you may recognize me from such films as Girls Gone Wild…  This is my second VOYEUR, and I’m really excited to be here. (Applause)

ELISE CHAMBERS.  My name is Elise Chambers, and I’m part of the Communications Team.  I’m harassing everyone for bios, and I see a few of you who haven’t sent them yet… (Laughing, laughter.)  This is my first VOYEUR, and I’m very excited. (Applause)

STEVEN FEHR.  I’m Steven Fehr, and this is my third VOYEUR.  When I heard who the  cast was for this VOYEUR, I was very, very excited.  I’m grateful to Al and Nancy and Cynthia for letting me be a part of this again. (Applause)

POLLY NEVINS.  I’m Polly Nevins, and I also work on the Communications Team.  This will be my second VOYEUR inside the Box Office and my 21st VOYEUR – (Laughter)

This is my home, and this is my family.  (Applause)

KEVIN MATHIE.  I’m Kevin Mathie, and I’m the Music Director.   I think this is my seventh VOYEUR.  My first one was in ’93, then I took a long break, and then I started doing it again.  I used to just be the hired gun playing the keyboards, then I got promoted – or demoted – I’m not sure.  (Laughing, laughter)  That’s it.

CYNTHIA FLEMING.  YAY!

NANCY BORGENICHT.  My name is Nancy Borgenicht.  Nancy Fucking Borgenicht.  This is my 33rd VOYEUR, and I am only 35. (Laughter and applause)

KEVEN MYHRE.  Damn, you look good.

NANCY BORGENICHT.  Thank you.  So that’s it.   (Applause)
