I've had a remarkable dream. And you were there. | ANGELS IN AMERICA Actor Alexis Baigue

Alexis_w_wings"I've had a remarkable dream. And you were there."

I am at The Salt Lake Acting Company, thrilled to be with my ANGELS IN AMERICA cast and crew again, about to do this incredible show after several days off.  Christy Summerhays looks beautiful in her dowdy Harper dress.  I adore Lucas Bybee in his terrible, teal tee-shirt; I am giddy at the prospect of being back with my Prior!  Anne Stewart Mark looks amazing and wants to know what food I think she should order for the cast party.  The Great Work begins!

Then, the alarm goes off and I wake up.  The play closed more than a week ago.  I begin my day.

That was the day before yesterday.

I am deeply grateful to Tony Kushner and everyone who created the epic, to Keven Myhre and Cynthia Fleming for casting me in this production, and to everyone at S.L.A.C. for working with me.  Playing Louis Ironson was a fifteen-year dream come true.  To the thousands of people who came to see it, I quote Prior Walter:  You are fabulous creatures, each and every one.

Now, I am back in the dressing room.  The audience is waiting for the play to begin.  I am not ready.  It is show-time.  Where are my costumes?  What are my lines?  Am I doing SATURDAY'S VOYEUR??  MILLENNIUM APPROACHES??? PERESTROIKA?!?!  Executive Producer Keven Myhre is pressing me to get to the stage, but I can’t find the navy blue shirt and jacket I wear to Sarah Ironson’s funeral in my first scene!  Keven hurries to the basement to find my costumes.  This is horrible!!

Suddenly, my cell phone alarm goes off and I wake up.  I am not acting in a play; I am unemployed.  As Louis Ironson states in Part Two: “I had a freaky nightmare.”

That was yesterday.

Today, I am confident that when I return to S.L.A.C. to see BOOM with my family, my sub-conscious mind will finally understand that my amazing, six-month stint there is complete.

Join me at BOOM this evening, IF YOU GIVE A MOUSE A COOKIE in December, THE PERSIAN QUARTER in February, CIRCLE MIRROR TRANSFORMATION in April, and SATURDAY'S VOYEUR in June; call 801-363-SLAC and say, “I want a killer deal on prices; give me season tickets next to Alexis Baigue (or whomever you prefer), so that I can sit with her or him during all the shows at The Salt Lake Acting Company!”

And I bless you: More Life.
