Universe, Great Sender of Objects | via boom Actor Holly Fowers

boom_hollyUniverse, Great Sender of Objects…

Ohmygosh!  boom!  I love this play!  Hmmm, does that sound silly?  Would 'ohmyheck' be a better way to start this blog entry?  I dunno.  I'm a pretty silly kind of gal.  Maybe a bit more like my character Barbara than I'd like to admit.  Actually, if I'm telling the truth (and I guess I am. You know, mostly...), I think Barbara is a very easy and natural extension of myself.  Oh oh oh, I feel like I've just revealed something here.  Hopefully you won't use it against me.

I am so passionately happy to be a part of this production of boom with the Salt Lake Acting Company.  It has been a joyous experience from the very beginning.  My fellow castmates, David and Emily, the director, Robin, and the very professional yet hi-lariously funny stage manager Victoria, we were all in a little room going over and over this show for weeks.  And darnit, if we didn't laugh and laugh and laugh.  A lot.  At the lines, the characters, each other.

And now we have the opportunity to take this laughter, this joy, and share it with all of you.  I hope that you will enjoy it as much as we already have.  During the talkback after the matinee last Sunday, I had the chance to talk very briefly with a few audience members and I really enjoyed that.  I enjoyed hearing their thoughts and reactions to the play.  Why do I do this crazy thing after all – memorizing a bunch of words and then speaking them in character each night as if for the first time – if not to give it away, to share it with people who will hopefully appreciate it and love it as much as I do.

So, thank you SLAC audiences for your love and support of live theatre, and for coming to play with us.  Thank you to David, Emily, Robin, Victoria and everyone else at SLAC, for making this, easily, one of the most fun, joy-full, laughter-full experiences I've had in theatre.  Thank you Universe, Great Sender of Objects, for sending me boom!
